How to calculate a total for Survey values from separate questions.

Hi, I'm trying to create a questionnaire that has multiple parts and multiple sections in each part. That is actually the easy part. Let's say there are 4 parts, and each part has 3 sections. For example Part 1: Digestive Health. Part 1 - Section 1, questions about Gastric Function, Section 2, questions about GI Inflammation, Section 3, questions about Small Intestine & Pancreas. Each of those sections will have 5 questions. There will be four possible answers to each question. Each answer has a numerical  value added in the options under "surveying". O.k. now I need the answers from each section to calculate for a total value. That's where I'm stuck. How do I get the values to add up to a total? Thank you for your help. Ultimately I want those values to show in a graph as a visual representation of level of health and dysfunction. Higher the value = more dysfunction.

If I'm understanding you correct, I believe what you will be needing to use to collect the total is the Form Calculation widget.

Then with regards to setting a value for each possible answer of a question (checkbox field or radio button field), you need to set a calculation value.

I have created a sample form for you based on what I understand your requirements are.

I would suggest you create a clone version of it to your account so you can inspect it better.

I hope this helps. If you have a question or you need clarifications, please do not hesitate to get back to us so we can further help you.

    Thank you.

Thank you! That totally worked. My sections are now calculating a total.

Next problem, I'd like the results to print in a snazzy, colored bar graph to show the level of dysfunction in each section. Currently, when I test the form and look at the results in the "chart" option it shows the questions individually. I need the totals to graph with headings from each section. Does that make sense? So section 1 would say "Gastric Function" and let's say the clients total for that section is 52. That would be in the "red" zone so high dysfunction. The next section would be titled "GI Inflammation" and the clients total is 8 putting function in the "green zone", good function. Is there a way to do this?

I had moved the next question to a new thread at https://www.jotform.com/answers/1132504 and you will be replied shortly on that thread
