The first page of our form is basically a data entry area including anything from number answers to long text. In our long text answers, the text is entered with line breaks. When this text is referenced later using the 'Insert Form Field' option within the Text Area, the text all appears on one line, we need it to retain the line breaks. How do we do this? It would be our preference to continue to use this option ie. 'Insert Form Field' and have the text appear as it was entered with line breaks that the workaround mentioned below.

I have tried using another Long text field and making the field value equal the previously, this shows the text correcting but I end up with a border around the field that I do not know how to remove. The text also appears in a different font family, size and colour.

Your assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.

Could you please point us to which condition is actually copying the text, I found this one:

Or which fields are copying and where.

Because you can insert the < br > tag in the calculation that should insert the break so you get the new line.

Please let us know so we can adjust for you if needed.

    Thank you!

    Hi Nik

Where we would prefer the line breaks to show is in this text under the heading 'Make the most of your Service Offering' on Page 2 of our form where we are using the 'Form Field' functionality ie. {entityNames} as highlighted below:

Thank you for again choosing ... to complete your annual accounting work. We will provide you with the following services for the upcoming financial year for:

    {entityNames}

    Hello,

If I understand your question correctly, you mean to say that the new line formatting is not retained when the textarea value is populated in "Text" field. Is that correct?

I did test this issue in one of my own form and I am able to replicate the issue you are having. When the value of textarea field is displayed in "Text" field, the formatting of new line is not retained. It always displays value in one single line. I am reporting it to our backend team. We will get back to you as soon as we have any update from them.

For now, I would suggest you to ask users to add <br> tag in the textarea for a new line which seems to work just fine. Please check the screenshot below:

    Thank you!

Thankyou Ashwin. I have tried this and it works. Please PLEASE please could we have this occur automatically as soon as possible ie. in a future update as you have suggested. It is such an important feature for data that is entered and re-used throughout a form.

    Many thanks!!

Has there been any update to this or a workaround found other than using the <br>? We really need something better than having to enter this at the end of each line of text. Thanks!

I checked if there's an available widget that can be a workaround while waiting for the issue to be implemented but I was not able to find one.

Unfortunately, there is still no update regarding on this issue. However, our developers will contact you on this thread once we have an update.

Keep in mind that we cannot provide an ETA on when will this issue be fixed or implemented.

    Thank you for your understanding.
