    Create a rate-a-page widget

Asked by drleonard on July 18, 2012 at 05:27 PM

Hi! I need help in creating a rating widget for static HTML pages on my site. PollDaddy has exactly what I'm looking for (http://support.polldaddy.com/rating-widget/) but I'm not using wordpress.

So here's what I want: A JotForm widget that contains a poll and a hidden field that captures the web page URL. I'd also like the widget to show the number of votes, if possible.

That way, I can gather feedback about specific pages on my site---to see which pages are popular and which are not.

Cany anyone share some advice? Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

How about this sample page. If you find it useful, we can assist you have such form.

I used the source code embed, then added custom function to capture the site URL/page.

I also created a Report using the Grid listing report and displayed it on the page.

The form can be embedded on any website and you will be able the capture the feedback for that particular website. You can also view the submission notification here.

You can also view the source code of my sample site (right-click/view source)

Please inform us if you need further assistance.

    Thanks.

That looks great, almost perfect. Just two follow-up questsions:

    1) How do I get the widget you created?

    2) Is there a way to include a report that just has the average rating?

    Thanks in advance again

    Hello drleonard,

    To answer your questions:

    1) How do I get the widget you created?

You can start by cloning this form: http://www.jotform.me/form/21997314824461 then you can continue with what jonathan stated above such as creating reports.  You can learn more on how to clone forms from this user guide.

Also, this is what makes the form print the URL on submission so make sure that you get the full HTML source code and place it on your web page:

    <script type="text/javascript"> document.getElementById('input_2').value = document.URL; </script>

    2) Is there a way to include a report that just has the average rating?

Unfortunately, not.  Reports will show all and there will be no omissions or restrictions.

Please let us know if you have further questions or concerns.

    Thanks.
