    Voice Recorder Widget doesn't record on mobile devices

    The voice recorder widget works great from my computer, however, I created the form so I could make voice notes to myself from my phone (Samsung Galaxy Note 5). On my phone it will say that it's recording, I can stop the recording, but it will not play back so I can hear it before pressing submit. And although it shows a time length of the recording, when I go to view submissions and play the file, it's 0 seconds and nothing plays.

    I can confirm that I am getting the same behavior on a Microsoft Windows 10 Mobile phone. So either there is a mistake in your form, or there's a bug that the developers have to address.

    I am unable to clone this URL. It doesn't have an ID number at the end. I'm guessing you are a premium user and I don't have permission to clone it. You will have to wait for Jotform support.

    OK, so your form is fine. Its definitely not an error in your form.

    But, the Voice Recorder Widget is flash based and will only work on devices that support flash.

    Your best bet is to try another browser. Firefox and Chrome are good candidates.

    Ahhh, well I don't think mobile devices support flash in general so that would explain it. My default browser on my phone is Chrome, but Flash doesn't work on there. 

    Strange that there was no indication that it wouldn't work. Usually there's a puzzle piece symbol when Flash can't run. This makes it looks like everything is fine, but it just doesn't work.

    I would love it if there was a mobile friendly version of the voice recorder since mobile is where it's at. I'm glad I tried this out for my own purposes before offering it as an option for a client site.

    Sorry to hear that.

    I checked if there was another voice recording widget or similar and found there's nothing for what you need.

    I guess the developers will get on top of it at some stage in the near future.

    Just as a workaround, you know most android phones have a sound recording app. If not you can surely download one.

    Just as a final effort, please download a copy of firefox on your Samsung Note 5. I have heard some people had success with it.

    Our developers have probably added a WebRTC based audio capture fallback when the Flash is not available, but anyway, it appears that the Voice Recorder widget does not work properly on the mobile devices. I have attached a ticket to this thread and forwarded it to our developers. We will get back to you when we have any updates.

    It should be possible to capture audio with a standard File Upload field (tested on Android phone). The downside is that there is no playback option available with that field type.

    I just tested the File Upload field and got the following error message:

    Apparently my voice recorder does not use the correct file format for the File Upload field.

    So there is currently no working option for me on mobile.

    Okay, so I just added m4a as an accepted file type so now the File Upload field does work!

    Still, it would be great if the Voice Recorder would also work.

    Glad that you have figured out that adding the m4A as an accepted file type in File Upload Field does work.  

    Regarding the Voice Recorder, my colleague has already raised this issue to our developers. Rest assured you will be informed in this thread if there are any updates.

    Good news! I just tested the form on Firefox for Android. And it works. So you can download a copy from the Play Store.

    Hi, we apologize for the late response. Some browsers does not support WebRTC nor Flash and the widget is relying on these two. If a WebRTC is not available, it will automatically fallback to Flash and if flash is also not available you won't be able to use the widget. Bear in mind that some browsers on the mobile device does not support WebRTC yet and Flash. The widget will display a message referring to the error. I hope that will clear up some misunderstanding.
