Auto Fill data clears when PC restarts?

    Hi

I have enabled the 'continue form' option, so you can fill part of the form in, close it and come back to it at a later date, as long as you are on the same PC/device

This is fine if I close the form, keep my pc on and go back in.

However, if I shut down my computer and restart it and go back into the link, all the info has gone. Am I missing something I should have clicked in the options. Please advise ASAP?????

    Many thanks

    Marc

    Hi Marc,

The "Continue Forms Later" option saves the previous input in your local browser as a cache, this works as long as your browser or PC does not clear your cache. If it resets, then it's probable that you have a setting enabled in your computer that clears the cache. Unfortunately, we won't be able to do much if that is specific to a computer or browser setup.

Another possible solution that you can use is this: https://www.jotform.com/help/97-How-to-Save-Forms-to-Continue-Later. This one is different from the "Continue Forms Later" option, this uses a session link where the inputs are saved, the session can be used in any PC or browser.

    I hope that helps.

    Hi Charlie

    Many thanks for this.

So, if I just instruct people to ensure their PC settings are set to 'Remember History', then should be resolve it as that includes the clear cache option?

This actually depends on the browser and PC of the user, I'm not familiar with all the settings of each computer and browser so I cannot guarantee that 'instructing' the users is a full proof solution. Also, the user needs to use the same browser.

Please also note that you or your users might be using 3rd party applications that clears cache automatically, so that's one thing to also consider. Because this option is dependent on user's end, there are a lot of factors that might affect it.

I did test in my end, I used this simple form: https://form.jotformpro.com/71432994576973. And simulated it on a virtual machine running Windows 7, all settings are default, no plugins installed. So far using the same browser inputs are saved and are auto filled whenever I open the same form URL (make sure you are opening the same link), this is also true when I close and re-open the browser (except of course if you are using incognito/private browsing mode). I then shut down the machine and turn it on again, I opened the same browser using the same link and the inputs are auto filled successfully.
