Form messages: Disabled form is not displaying the warning message when form is embedded using Javascript embed code

Asked by kubinyi on May 31, 2017 at 11:05 AM

Embedded form after it's disabled generates error.

60496563613965 Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 ()

It works when used in an iFrame but that's not matching the site design and can't be optimized.

Could you try embedding the form using iframe embed method so that the disabled error message should be displaying? You may get the iframe embed code for your JotForm by following the steps in the guide below:

    https://www.jotform.com/help/148-Getting-the-form-iFrame-code

Please get back to us if you need any further assistance. We will be happy to help.

Did you actually read my issue? I stated clearly that using iframe works however I don't like that solution. So that's not an acceptable solution. It displays in a static frame with a gray background.

This is a very old bug, goes back at least 2 years, I can't believe it's not fixed.

I am sorry that I overlooked the last paragraph of your message. As I check the previous threads and tickets raised, I see that this is a default and an expected behavior. Also, the error message can be added directly on the web page instead displaying a disabled form error message. Unfortunately, at this moment the only fix to display the error message of a disabled form on a web page is to use iframe embed code.

    Hope this information helps!

I'm sorry it does not, and I don't understand how this is the expected behavior, what I would expect is the warning to show up but I might be missing something.

When you are saying that the warning can be added on the web page instead, what do you mean by that?

As I check some of the previous threads, I see that the warning message of the form is not expected to display on the embedded form when it is using javascript embedded form.

When you are saying that the warning can be added on the web page instead, what do you mean by that?

I mean to say that the error message can be displayed on your web page directly without using the embedded form.

    Thanks!

    How?

Let me be more specific. I have a form set to expire - get disabled - on a certain date and time, at that point I need a message being displayed automatically that the form is no longer active for visitors. This feature is perfect for that however it does not work, you are telling me it's not supposed to work, I just don't believe that, can you escalate this issue to a developer and get a second opinion on it please.

Thank you, however it still does not work on my production page, only on the test page, I hope this fix was not specific to the test page only.

    Hey kubinyi,

The previous fix was solution to only forms with "Disabled" status which was the reason why your other form was still missing. The latest update has solved your issue by changing system to consider other kinds of disabled forms too.

Thank you for pointing out the problem and sorry for the inconvenience again.

Thank you for the quick fix, it works now as expected.

Just one last comment, it would be nice if the actually message design could be customized to match the actual page design.

Glad to hear it is now working.  As for the design element of the messages, I will move that request to a thread of its own and forward it as a feature request.  The new thread can be found here:

I set this form to auto disable on 5/31 11PM, which it did and it is still disabled. However today we received a new submission, how is this possible?
