    DropDown field: Options are trimmed after certain number

    Jotform, 

    A client has reported (and I've confirmed) the entries I've added to a drop-down list are being truncated.  Has there been a new limit put on number of items in a drop down list?

    The list appears to truncate at around 4269 entries, out of the 4707 entries I'm entering into the list.  

    Please advise ASAP!

    I checked your form and I was able to replicate what you were describing. 

    There is some field limitation for each field, it is a number of characters. But since you reported that this issue is happening recently I will forward this issue to our backend team for additional information.

    We will inform you through this thread once we receive an update.

    We are sorry for this confusion. 

    When we checked the mentioned dropdown field options, we realised that you exceeded the limit of characters for this field. That's why, you were seeing less than entered options. In addition, it is unfortunately not possible to increase this character limit. So,the thing we can suggest you is to share options for this field to two different dropdown fields.

    My problems with this isn't that there is a limit.

     1 - Where is this character limit listed and available information to users? 

     2 - Why did the extra characters 'work' for a while and then stop working without notice from Jotform?  I can see earlier this year the list choices that are no longer there were chosen from the list.  Meaning Jotform 'broke' my form without telling me.

    We are again sorry for this situation.

    However, we double checked this on our side at code level and I can confirm that this limitation is not applied recently. In fact, this character limit exists all the time. When I checked your form revision history, I found out that you had made some modification on dropdown field.

    If you added more characters during this modification, you might have exceed limit here and this could be the reason why you think that this was not happened before.

    On the other hand, I would like to clarify a point here regarding this limit. When I said character limit, I didn't meant option limit. The letters are counted. In other words, you can have 100 options with 10 chars per option or you can have more than 100 options with less than 10 chars per option.
