On forms we've created from scratch the data in compiled int an Excel sheet...this would not be pretty for a job application.
Do you know how the information on the pre-made templates is compiled?

Hi,
I am not sure which process of compilation you were referring to here. But the Excel export tool is built-in to the Form Builder already.
User guide: https://www.jotform.com/help/44-How-to-Export-Form-Data-to-Excel
Please provide more details and we will see how we can be of further assistance.
Thanks.

is there another way to export that data other than Excel? Trying to read a job application in Excel would not be good.

Please note that you can also export submissions as CSV files and, more importantly, as PDF files, in addition to Excel files.
We have a guide on how to download form submissions as Excel/CSV/PDF files here: https://www.jotform.com/help/73-How-to-Download-Form-Submissions-as-Excel-CSV-PDF
I hope this helps. If you need further assistance please let us know. Thank you.
