Email Notification: Plain text format is not working

    Hello,

    I am trying to integrate Jotform with an automotive CRM tool.  I created an XML/ADF formatted email.  What's happening is, after I remove all the source code so that I can create my XML/ADF email in plain text, jotform still converts the email to HTML which removes all of our XML/ADF formatting.

    When I receive the email, I see all the XML/ADF formatting.  I believe it's because my email is reading it in rich text.  When the CRM company receives it, they see all the HTML <P> tags which breaks the XML/ADF formatting.

    I attached a screenshot with the formatting I need to stay intact when submitted.

    I have a paid subscription with Jotform and I really hope we can figure this out.

    Sorry for inconvenience this may caused you. 

    I will report this issue to our developers and we will inform you via this thread once this issue is resolved.

    I was under the impression that emails can be sent in plain text.  When I put in the time to create the custom form with the coded email submission, Jotform converts my plain text email to html.  This is not good and it is causing me issues with a very good client.  I've been waiting for updates on other threads with the same concern.  What is the turnaround time for something like this?  Is it going to be implemented?  If not then I really need to know so that I can take my business elsewhere.  I apologize in advance for my frustrated tone.

    It says:

    "Note: If you are looking for a way to setup text only email, please do note that this is not possible any more. The new wizard will allow you to only change the HTML email, text only emails are actually no longer used as mobile devices are becoming more common and all can open HTML emails without issues."

    So what I suggest is maybe you could try switching to version 3 of the builder. And let us know if that works?

    Version 3 does the same thing.  I removed all the source code, pasted my code in plain text and it still converts to HTML.   I also tried pasting it into the source code.

    We serve our emails in html format. We can delete automatically-added p and br tags from body part; however, sent email will have body and head tags. I should also mention that you will lose your design. If it is okay with you, please let me know.

    Hello,

    I'm pretty sure I answer for everyone with this issue.  All we are trying to do is prevent the text editor from creating HTML tags.  We need a raw plain text sent to our client's CRM tool.  The text contains a code that is read by the CRM tool then parsed into the database.

    We need plain text NOT RICH TEXT sent via email.

    Unfortunately that is not possible. You can try this:

    How to Have Text Only Message Format in Email

    But as Asil pointed out earlier the messages will have head and body tags.

    Maybe you could remove the tags when you are parsing the text? The email will always contain the same tags. So you can automate this step.

    Not Good...  it defeats the purpose of the CRM tool if you have to manually remove the tags.  I's a shame because we've invested several hours and $$ into this.  We were hoping to utilize Jotform with many other clients which are car dealerships.  ADF/XML is the automotive industry standard for submitting leads to their Automotive CRM tools.  If we are unable to do this then we'll have to utilize another platform.  That's unfortunate.

    I have changed your email setting to plain text. Please review your email structure in order to verify the change.
