    Having Trouble Passing Field Values Via URL

    Asked by artsjoco on August 08, 2012 at 01:28 AM

    I'm passing several values from one form to a second form, via a URL sent via email notification.  3 of the 5 fields that I'm trying to pass work...but 2 do not.   After banging my head against my monitor for several hours, I've decided to post this here, in hopes someone is smarter than I.

    My 1st form is here:  http://www.jotform.com/?formID=22198988939984

    Here's the code I'm using to pass to the 2nd form:
    http://form.jotformpro.com/form/22199020236952?studentFull[first]={URLENCODE:studentFull:first}&studentFull[last]={URLENCODE:studentFull:last}&artsCategory107={URLENCODE:artsCategory}&teacherFull[first]={URLENCODE:nominatingTeacher:first}&teacherFull[last]={URLENCODE:nominatingTeacher:last}&highSchool4={URLENCODE:highSchool4}&highSchool58={URLENCODE:highSchool58}

    The fields that are NOT passing to the 2nd form, coincidentally (or not?) are the fields where the fieldname is different from the 1st form to the 2nd form.  However, I'm aware that I cannot change these fieldnames.

    The fields that are not passing correctly are artsCategory107 and nominatingTeacher.  Others are passing to the 2nd form just fine.

    Help?

    Hello.  It seems that you have the parameters switched.  I tested your form and the parameters returned to me as this:

    http://form.jotformpro.com/form/22199020236952
    ?studentFull[first]=test
    &studentFull[last]=test
    &artsCategory107=
    &teacherFull[first]=
    &teacherFull[last]=
    &highSchool4=Barstow
    &highSchool58=De%20Soto

    Notice that the link appears to have the arts category, and teacher name as blank.

    Upon checking this is how your URL should be encoded:

    http://form.jotformpro.com/form/22199020236952
    ?studentFull[first]={URLENCODE:studentFull:first}
    &studentFull[last]={URLENCODE:studentFull:last}
    &artsCategory={URLENCODE:artsCategory107}
    &nominatingTeacher[first]={URLENCODE:teacherFull:first}
    &nominatingTeacher[last]={URLENCODE:teacherFull:last}
    &highSchool4={URLENCODE:highSchool4}
    &highSchool58={URLENCODE:highSchool58}

    If this new parameter still does not work, please do let us know.

    Thanks.

    Arg, I was so close.  :-)  The solution above works great!  Thanks for reviewing that and setting me straight.
