how to create a credit system?

Asked by jhdreamer on August 08, 2012 at 05:22 AM

I need a system that will let me have users. Each user will have a credit bank that I will manually update (or will be autoupdated by paypal submission) and in order for a user to be able to submit a form they will need credits in their "bank" and every submission will subtract one credit from that "bank".

Can you help me do this?

It may be feasible. But its going to be pretty complex.

JotForm isnt really for creating and managing a membership site which is a part of what you are asking for.

If you did have a pre-existing user database, you could add a column to it 'credits'.. then have a custom URL thankyou page for a form which would use a bit of php to subtract 1 from it.

A user would still be able to submit following forms though as you wouldnt know how many credits a user had until the form was actually submitted.

I think you could arrive at some kind of solution, but you would really need to think out how you want the process to work. Even then, to be honest, it sounds like about 10-12+ hours development work and that sort of time is really a bit beyond our remit as Support staff.

    How about this,
Forget them members, just a single form that has a hidden box with a number in it (put there by me),Every timethe form is submitted the number in that box is deducted by 1 and if the box reaches 0 then the submit buttondisappears and a warning message appears.

Actually, if the box was non-editable box that displayed they number and had a title it would be even better.
Basically a way to make a form expire after X amount of submissions and display the amount of submissions left.

    @Joshua

Hi, I think your idea is also feasible, but just the same as fxr already stated, it can still be "complex".

For reason that you will still be using the form's source code, and functionality will be augmented by outside codes (such as PHP or javascript).

Please check this form, from this thread.. If you try the form, you will notice that the counter will go up in count. But what you rather need is something that will go down in count until zero(0).

I think the concept can be reversed and create a code function(using PHP or javascript) that will read the diminishing counter and have it affect the form behaviour. Such as, when counter reached zero(0), the submit button get disabled.

I haven't tried coding this though, and same as you, it is only my feasible idea. My colleagues here are adept programmers, fxr is one =) . Maybe when they can, they could share the code that can do such thing on your form.

I will also try if I can come up with my idea in action. I will update this post if I successfully do it.

Please inform us if you have any other concern.

    Thanks.
