Dynamic dropdown field required even if not selected

Hi there

I'm using the Dynamic Dropdown widget on my form. If someone selects a dropdown option from the parent, I want to make a selection from the child dropdown required so have used the asterisk.

However, if no parent option is selected, and therefore no child option is displayed, the form won't submit as it is requiring the child option.

Is there something I've missed? Or is this a limitation of the widget? Thanks.

I think you do not need to put an asterisk before it because selecting the parent option gives you a child options without an empty option. Meaning, you have the assurance that the child dropdown will be always filled. 

So in this case, if the user decides not to select any options, they can submit the form.
