How do I remove the tag when prepopulating a text field from a checkbox?

I am trying to prepopulate one Jotform from another. I have been successful, the only problem is when I get to form 2, I need a list in a text box from checkboxes that were checked in form 1.

My problem is that when I get to form 2 the list in the textbox that I got from the checkboxes has a <br> tag in: I received an IRP5<br>I am a director of a company/member of a CC<br>I made contributions towards a medical aid

Is there a way to remove them or maybe prepopulate a different type of field?

Please try to switch your text area field to rich text:

That should strip the text to be without br tags:

I tested and it worked.
