    GPS Location widget: Having a map in the form that allow users to have a satellite view

    Asked by solarpowerpanels on July 19, 2017 at 09:48 AM

    Thanks. That was two years ago...

    I'm still trying your software. If you could please check my form and tell me if there is anything else that can be done for what I need (satellite image) -  here it is:

    https://www.jotform.com/build/71972209205859

    the map is in page 2...I need the customer to be able to recognize their roof.

    they need to type their address or a post code only. (not latitude etc..)

    Thank you

    Effie

    You may consider using any of the following widgets:

    https://widgets.jotform.com/widget/location_coordinates

    https://widgets.jotform.com/widget/address_map_locator

    https://widgets.jotform.com/widget/gps_directions

    https://widgets.jotform.com/widget/geolocation

    You can inject a custom CSS codes to hide the other section of the mapping widgets.  Here's an example of the location coordinates widget without the lat and long boxes:

    https://www.jotform.com/71993433536969

    The custom CSS codes are the following:

    div#inputLat-row {

        display: none !important;

    }

    div#inputLng-row {

        display: none;

    }

    But note that this is just for the form view, you will still receive the data in the email and submissions page.

    Thanks for that!

    Also, I would like that the Satellite map come up first and not the other? (at the moment the user need to move to the satellite Map manually which is not great)

    Also I was trying to remove the 'Province and Country as well, but it is not working.... any idea?

    if not..could I at least rename the word 'Province' to 'State'...as we don't have provinces in Australia..

    Thanks again :-)

    Unfortunately, I don't see a way to force Satellite view in the widget, so that might not be possible.

    Regarding the removal of the State/Province, here is how to remove it from the Address field:

    Or you can rename it by double-clicking it:

    Let us know if you have any further questions.

    Thank you!

    Thanks Nik - but we were discussing the widget in this thread..and my question was regarding the widget 'Location Coordinates' that Melvin has given me as an example. (You are talking about simple address field and not about the widget in the example). Must be a way as I found that I can change it in the HTML...(using firebug)

    <label class="control-label" for="inputProvince">State</label>

    but how do I enter it into the Jotform?

    Unfortunately, with widgets, it's not possible to alter its HTML. But, you can hide it via CSS. Here is a sample code:

    #inputProvince-row, #inputCountry-row {
       display: none;
    }

    How to insert the CSS code:

    1) Click the Widget Settings button
    2) Click the Custom CSS tab
    3) Paste the code in the text area
    4) Click the Update Widget button

    Once done it should then hide the other fields.

    If you have questions, please let us know.

    Thanks.

    Thanks Liyam - This is what I wanted to do in the first place - to make it look like the (Gps Widget) but unfortunately the widget is not working now. Hiding those fields also hiding the Address's drop down menu which make it impossible to search for an address.

    Amy idea?

    Thanks,

    Effie

    Most of the widgets are not customizable. If the request is to get a Satellite view for a GPS Location widget we can forward a feature request to our widget team. However, we will not be able to provide any ETA for when it will be implemented.

    Thanks Mike. Was a request for this two years ago and for some reason it ha not happened.  see here: https://www.jotform.com/answers/553498-GPS-Location-Widget-the-option-to-change-the-map-view-to-satellite

    In this case could you please follow it up and let me know if they ever intend to do it?

    Thank you

    Unfortunately, that request was canceled, most probably due to the low number of requests for it.

    I will forward this to our backend team for possible feature implementation. As said by my colleague, we can not provide an ETA, but we will inform you if the feature is implemented through this thread.

    Thank you!
