setting up a new site and getting an enter valid email address error. We would like to upgrade to a paid plan if we can get this form working.

Please change the comment section validation settings as shown in the image below.Properties>Option then Validation to "None"

Unfortunately, I was not able to replicate the issue. I opened your form and I can verify that the Email field is working correctly provided that you entered a valid email address.
If the email address is invalid or the TLD (top level domain) is incomplete, an error will appear.
