Is there any possible way so that if the customer selects the option 'no' that a text box appears so that they can add their commentary. However if they select 'yes' then no text box appears and they can move onto the next question in the form?

I'm glad to inform you that it is possible to conditionally show/hide fields in your form. Please check Smart Forms Using Conditional Logic for more information.

Additional to what Chriistian said, I have cloned your form and added your request.
The first image's condition shows the input text box since it is hidden in default.
Then the second image/condition makes the input text box as a required field.
