You can use the JotForm url link to allow users to fill it out without having
to integrate it in a website first. To get the JotForm url to your form please
do the following:
1. Open your form in JotForm
2. Click on 'Edit'
3. Select 'Setup and Embed' then choose 'Embed Form'
4. From the embed wizard window copy the direct link to your form
displayed under the 'This is a direct link to your form for easier distribution' label
You can then send this link via email by pasting the forms URL on email body. The other people can open it by clicking on the link and make form submission.
You would need to setup an email notification within your form such that when form submissions are done, you get alerts on set email address about the same.
Please check these guide for further details
If you intend them to get response from your end that the form has been received. Then you need to set autoresponder email as shown in link below;
Please lets know if this ionformation was helpful to you.

Is there also a way for the browser window that opens with a direct link to be sized down to the width of the form vs having the default browser window open? i have done onclick/open new window... with a size coded into the page, but was wondering if there was an easier way. thanks.

You can try using the lightbox or popup embed form. The lightbox and popup embed form automatically creates a popup window of your form.
You can then change the width and height value on the embed code based on your size preference.
