Date Field: How to ignore the date validations while editing a submission?

Asked on September 10, 2017 at 11:08 AM

    HI,

My form 52745887899988 has had a number of changes while being active. After the last one the Google Sheets integration now is showing incorrect data in new columns from older submissions, like numbers and peoples names. The column is for province abbreviated names.

Right now I am using a second sheet and copying only the cells data I want, which works.

I tried editing on the view submission page but the submissions show the form used at the time not the current version.

Is it possible to edit old data and remove this info?

    Thank you,

    Regards Robert

You can edit the old data through your submissions page: https://www.jotform.com/help/269-How-to-View-Form-Submissions

And finally, remove the integration, and integrate back again: https://www.jotform.com/help/228-How-to-Integrate-Form-with-Google-Spreadsheet, all data will be updated in the new spreadsheet.

I will try this and let you know. I did try to edit earlier using submissions page but had some difficulty.

If I do make changes shouldn't these be reflected in the existing integrated sheet?

    Thank you, Robert

Yes, Robert, that is correct, the changes should reflect immediately. As soon as you edited the submission and submitted, the new information should show in Spreadsheet.

Let us know if you're experiencing something else.

    Thank you!

    Hi,

    Re:52745887899988

Yes my data is updating, that's good but I have one issue. There is a date field called "Trial Date". Originally this could have only future dates and now it can be past and future.

When I make the edits and submit it I get an error on that date field and have to change it from the 8th month to the 10th month. I guess there is no way around this? I'm reluctant to do any more of them.

    Thank You, Regards Robert

We would like to apologize for any inconvenience this is causing you. To my understanding, you have updated the settings of the Trial Date field so past and future dates can now be selected.

Based on my understanding of the issue you are having, I have created a test form that has a date field (future dates only) and made a test submission. Then, I changed the date on my computer to a date in the future and updated the date field on the test form so past dates can already be selected. I edited the submission and changed the date field value and I was able to successfully do it without any errors.

I can only assume that the error message you are getting is telling you that you cannot select past dates, is that correct? Can you confirm the exact error message you are getting and can you give us the submission iD of the submission that you are trying to edit but it's giving you an error? If you can share with us the steps you're taking and a screenshot of the error message, that would be great. — How-to-Post-Screenshots-to-Our-Support-Forum

Hi, Sorry it took so long, busy.

So in the first image i show earlier submissions missing the Province in the column, so I want to add it.

Date Field: How to ignore the date validations while editing a submission? Image 1 Screenshot 40

I have selected which one I want to edit. (The first one in the row below QC)

I click on edit. It opens and I show fields I need to edit.

It has no Province selected. Note the date the arrow is pointing to.

I have selected a province which then opens a drop down to select a club from that province which I have done.

Now I hit submit and here is the error.

I hope this is what you wanted to see.

    Thank you, Robert

Thank you for the screenshots you provided, Robert.

The error message you provided was due to the settings on the date field:

Please note that the date validations are also triggered when the submission is edited. Currently, if you edit a submission the validation will be still triggered.

I'm forwarding this to our second level so our developers can take a look on this, we will let you know as soon as we receive any updates about it.

    Hi,

I now getting emails from judges who want to go and enter the "Post-Approval Date -" When they try and submit it shows the error above even though Past dates are allowed.

What is the status of this problem and or is there a possible work around? If I turn off required would this help for now?

    Best regards and Thank you,

    Robert

    Hi,

Kevin_G's response on https://www.jotform.com/answers/1262877  answers this question also.

After changing  Disable Past Dates   to No  the problem is resolved.

    Thank you, Robert
