However when trying to open the form on my iPhone I receive an error that states 'A problem occurred with this webpage so it was refreshed'. The screen try to refresh until the page won't open.

The form should be working on mobile devices no matter if you use either the legacy or new layout. I have just tested with a cloned form of yours witched to the new layout and it seems to be working:
Could you please switch your form again to the new layout and find if the issue persists?
You may also clone your form and set it to the new layout, please let us know if you can still replicate the issue.
