How to show a Summary table/Progress chart as user progress to fill the form

Asked on September 23, 2017 at 10:59 AM

I am looking for suggestions to create a summary table/chart to display each choice made as a user progresses through each page of the form.  My goal is to display a growing total price of a package a user creates as selections are made.

    Thank you,

    Spencer

It may be possible to calculate the Totals using the Form Calculation widget fields, please see the next guide.

How to Perform Form Calculation Using a Widget

Then, you can use the calculation values inside the Text (HTML) fields. Since the Text fields accept HTML, you can apply some HTML formatting/styling in them.

Can a value be assigned to a image radio button via the image radio button widget?

Hey Spencer - Calculation Values don't apply to widgets. You can only do this with the Single Choice (radio button), Multiple Choice (checkbox), Dropdown and Input Table fields.

    Complete guide: How-to-Assign-Calculation-Value

There's a way around this but it's something that relies on the image URL. If the URL/link of your image contains a number, the Form Calculation Widget will recognize it as its value. So, it may only work if you have a number on your image file links and URLs.

For example, if the images inside your Image Radio Buttons were named like these:

    https://example.com/elephant_4.jpg

    https://example.com/lion_2.jpg

    ...and so on

You can get the calculation values 4 and 2 for the items above respectively. However, https://example123.com/lion_2.jpg will give you a value of 1232.

    Thank you for the info.
Do you know how I can customize a URL to add the value?

I am afraid that the workaround with the image URLs to assign the calculation values is already deprecated. Alternatively, you can achieve something similar with conditions and form calculation widget fields.

    - Add the calculation field.

    - Update it with a correct value based on a selected item.

    Thank you for the update.

I think I understand how to do this.

Do you know how I can add a summary table/chart to display each choice made as a user progresses through each page of the form based on the results of the calculation widget fields?

We do not have any out of the box solution for this. However, you can use the unique field {names} within Text fields to show selected items and calculated values on the fly.

    Example:

Ok, I will try to work with the field names.
Back to calculated values: Can the calculated value contain text within the same field? For example, if the value is calculated to be $3,995.00 based on the selection made by the form user, is it possible to have the calculated value field show: Total Package Cost $3,995.00?

Regarding the summary table using the unique fields option in a text box, can you check to see if I am doing this the most efficient way?
It looks like it will be a lot of work, so I'd like to check before I continue for all options on my form.  I have only completed calculated fields for two additional merchandise items on my form.
(To see what I have accomplished so far, please navigate to: Cremation option on page 1, then the $1,795 radio button option, then the Western Cedar radio button option, then the fist two check box options under additional services.). The summary table is at the bottom of the page.
    Many thanks.

The way you have implemented it looks efficient. Unfortunately, I do not think that we have an easier workaround.

I am having some trouble with the calculated fields (my summary table) populating for my second radio button option.

Please navigate to: Cremation option on page 1, then the $1,795 radio button option, then the Champlain radio button option. The calculated field for this option does not populate in the summary at the bottom of the page, but the option for Western Cedar does calculate.  Can you see what I may be missing here?

The condition you added in your form to insert the text in the textbox was causing this issue. I have fixed it now. Please test your form and see if it works as expected.

Do get back to us if the issue persists.

I don't see the summary tool working properly when the Champlain radio button is selected.

When the radio button for "Champlain" on page 4 is selected, the summary chart in the text box (the dark grey box) on page 5 should read "Celebration of Life with Public Visitation Champlain Casket Package" with a price of "$3,495.00".

This seems to be working well when the radio button for "Western Cedar" on page 4 is selected.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you,

    Spencer

I may have figured it our by disabling one of my conditions.

I am glad to know that you figured it out yourself. I remember that I edited the condition in your form earlier today and fixed the issue.

I tested your form again and it seems to work as expected. Please check the screenshot below:
