Calculated Values and Dropdown Options

    Reference answer https://www.jotform.com/answers/346125

I have discovered that the drop-down option text will appear when I use the field data in the thank you page and emails, but the calculation value will appear when I try to use the value within a text element within the actual form body.

I have proposed a feature/change to deal with this.

    Any plans to implement this?

Can you please provide clarity on what exactly it is you wanted to have? I am sorry for I was not able to actually get it yet at this time.

From what I got so far base on the other question/thread you mentioned, "How do I pass data from one form to another?", the feature is available already.

There is also a related app for it : https://apps.jotform.com/app/field_prepopulator

I am very sorry. I pasted the wrong link. This particular question/comment has nothing to do with transfering data between forms.it has to do with dropdown text options and calculation values.

The link i should have pasted is....

On the second thread that you shared https://www.jotform.com/answers/1128589 my colleague raised your feature request to our developers. This feature is still not implemented and the status of the feature request is set to opened. Unfortunately, we can not provide you the exact time when and if this feature will be implemented. If there is any update we will inform you via that thread.

I made a test on my sample form and I can confirm that the field option will be shown on the Thank you page and that the calculation value will be shown inside of the form.

For now, as a possible workaround, you can add one more dropdown field with the same options to your form, but without the calculation values. Then with the conditional logic pass the selected option from the first dropdown field to the second dropdown field and use the field value of the second dropdown field if you want to display the calculation value within a text element and value of the first field to display the selected option within a text element.

Here is a demo form: https://form.jotformpro.com/72711468579973

Feel free to test it and clone it

Thanks. I was aware of that workaround.

JotForm has so many advantages over other form building options, but as I work with it I see more and more little idiosyncrasies that I would love to see implemented. Some big and some small. Unfortunately, feature creep gets expensive and can make the whole thing difficult to maintain.

I have a growing wishlist, but I appreciate that everyone else does also.

However, the one thing I would love to see improved is the presentation of the form data and the creation of PDF.

I'd be happy to share my other ideas.

Please open new threads regarding the presentation of the form data and the creation of PDF and provide us more details about your requests and we will raise it to our developers.
