We need to track source on form referrals via Google Analytics

    Hi Team,

Hope you are doing great. We had initially set up our bakery order form as an embed, but it didn't track on Google Analytics; so based on discussions with your support team we modified it to add the code into the website page (https://corporate-gift.1-800-bakery.com/contact-us), and we also set up a redirect to another page to be able to configure the goal on Google Analytics.

The good news is we are effectively now tracking the goal achieved on Google Analytics; nevertheless, when looking at the referral report on Google Analytics which is key for us, we see all referral sources as jotform.me (please look at the screenshot attached).

Is there ANY way for us to capture this essential information? You don't even carry it on your internal reports, and we honestly to need to show it somehow on our Google Analytics report. I thought your GA Widget would solve this, but something is not working here.

Will appreciate very much your kind help to sort this out (we are on our way to develop a "best practices" notebook for your future customers who use Google Analytics -which must be most of them). Thank you in advance!

    All the best,

    Max

I would like to apologize for any inconvenience. You are getting the submit.jotform.me as your referral source because it is the page that's loaded after the form is submitted before the thank-you page. If you want to the get the information of the parent URL of the page where your form is embedded, you can add a Get Form Page URL widget in your form. And if you want to get the information where the person who visits and submits your form come from, you can add the Get Referrer widget in your form.

If, in any case, I have misunderstood your concern, please let us know and provide us more details so we can better understand what exactly are you trying to accomplish.

    Hi Team,

Thanks for your reply, but unfortunately it does not solve our problems:

    1. The term you use "Referrer" is misleading, as it provides the "Entry Page" not the Referrer. A referrer -per industry standard, is Google, Email, etc... the widget only provides the "Entry Page" URL. Hopefully there are tracking parameter to conclude where it came from, but it lacks standard information.

    2. You do not provide then true referral information, and you don't pass this information to Google Analytics, this is honestly limited as well. Any regular company using regular Google Analytics understands the value to know where a form request came from.

Please advise where in your pipeline is a fix for this crucial matter. It will define our staying with your solution or finding a better solution in the short term. Thank you in advance.

    Kind regards,

    Max

I am not having much knowledge with Google Analytics. However, let me try answering your questions in the form's perspective.

When the form is submitted, the form will be redirected to submit.jotform.com and then redirected to the Thank you page which is your custom URL with Google Analytics code. So, the referral would be the submit.jotform.com.

Also, please check the following thread for the solution provided by one of our team members that can help you in with adding the URLs in the exclusion list.
