How can I make it so that new submissions are placed into an existing Google Doc spreadsheet instead of a new one?

If the 'exisisting' google doc spreadsheet is not associated in any way to the form (that is, it was a spreadsheet NOT created by JotForm) . Then, there is no way to append new form submission into it. Even if you create an exact similar form name and the 'existing' google doc spreadsheet.
However, if you integrate or re-integrate a form with 'existing submissions', it will include ALL submissions of that form to the newly created instance of google doc spreadsheet.
I am not sure what is your purpose, but what you can do also is, -- if you want to really capture and append new form submissions into your existing google doc, you can create a link between the 2 spreadsheet instead. By linking your existing google doc spreadsheet to the form spreadsheet, you will be able to transfer incoming submissions to the existing google doc spreadsheet.
