Spreadsheet to Form: Ability to load data from an online spreadsheet.

    Hello,

I am looking to utilise this software, however I want to know if it's possible to autopopulate fields from a Google sheets file instead of having to upload another file every time new information gets put on it? Having a live file to work off would be perfect for my use case.

If this is not currently possible, is it a feature that is looking at being added in the near future?

    Thanks

Hello @mlongo - Our integration with Google Sheets already work under that premise. The idea is that once you integrate your form, a sheet will be generated where all your submission data will be dumped. And for each new submission done on your form, that sheet will be updated.

    Complete guide: How-to-Integrate-Form-with-Google-Spreadsheet

Is this not the case from your end? Can you please give it a try first and setup an integration with Google Spreadsheets using the guide above then check the sheet for updates or each new submission?

    Hello,

Thanks for your response. I actually meant the other way around - populate my jotform based on information from a live, constantly updating spreadsheet on google sheets. I know it's possible to do this via a standard spreadsheet, but that requires a new upload of it every single time that spreadsheet gets updated, which in my use case would be every single time I use the form.

    Thanks

Sorry but there's no way to achieve that within JotForm. I'm guessing you're referring to the Spreadsheet to Form Widget? That widget only works with sheets that you upload to the widget which will act as a query table (like a database).

I don't know why you needed to pull records for a form that will come from the submissions of that same form though. If you could further explain the reason behind this, and the possible impact of this to the majority of our users, I can put this up as a feature request.

I'd be using the form as a Site Visit Report for technicians doing field service. Right now, using the Spreadsheet to Form Widget, I can get our database to export to a .csv file, which can be uploaded, then using a unique id in the spreadsheet (an order number in our case) we can autopopulate certain fields in the form (address, part details, contact information) to reduce the time taken by a technician to fill out the form.

So every time we get a new order, the spreadsheet has to be updated with the details so the technician is able to pre-fill his/her form. (we have a 4 hour turnaround for jobs, and multiple jobs per day. This is why a live, constantly updated spreadsheet which wouldn't require constant manual uploads would be ideal. Also, we work 24 hours a day, so we are unable to get anyone to manually upload the spreadsheet during that time anyway)

    Thanks

Unfortunately, will not be possible to have the data loaded from an online spreadsheet, but I'm forwarding this as feature request to our second level, although we cannot provide an ETA, we will let you know as soon as we receive any update on this.
