How can I prepopulate an address lookup or map widget?

I would like to use an address lookup widget or map to improve the reliability of entered addresses, but I also need to be able to pre-populate the address next time the user goes to the form. I can easily prepopulate standard fields and at the moment I prepopulate separate Street and Postcode fields for example - but I can't figure out how to get ANY of the various mapping widgets to prepopulate from the URL.

Do any of the address checking or mapping widgets support prepopulation?

I am afraid that widgets cannot be pre-populated. Most of the widgets are being loaded in separate frames, and also they are not designed to support the pre-population.
