Can I have a different attribute appended to the file name for files uploaded using your dropbox integration?

Currently, your system appends the submission ID to the file name but it's not very helpful when trying to identify many, many files in the same folder. The ability to append one of the other parameters from the form to the file name would greatly improve efficiency on our end since we're using this to allow our clients to submit project files to our team. Also, please don't suggest foldering - it doesn't work with our workflow using any of the dropbox automation engines out there today. None of them have the ability to detect the creation of and file changes within subfolders.

The answer to your question is no. It is not possible to append selected form data to the file name of files uploaded. In fact it isn't possible to alter the file name at all.

However, you may choose a certain field in your form which the integration will use to name the folder under which the uploaded files are saved.

    Hi Neil,

Thanks for the response and the suggestion to use folders despite me stating that folders will not work with our workflow.

Does your team plan on making the same type of integration available for Google Drive users? We are heavy Google Apps users and our entire workforce is on the platform. We currently use a third-party service to monitor the upload folder within dropbox to push any files it sees into our Google Drive. Being able to upload directly to Google Drive would allow us to take advantage of foldering and remove 2 steps from the workflow.

Hi, unfortunatelly, the dropbox integration folder/file naming process is current as it is for now. There are clamor for improvement for this, and it was already submitted to our dev team for consideration of the enhancement.

As for your google drive inquiry, yes, this was also among the feature request lists submitted to our dev team. You can check that thread here
