I literally just lost hours worth of work on a Form that was auto-saved multiple times, but never appeared in my Forms list. Now it's gone. Any way to recover???

We're you able to know your form ID/URL ? Try checking it in your browser's history .
https://www.wikihow.com/View-Browsing-HistoryYour account mickmal doesn't have history of form being created too.
Probably you created that form without registering.

No. I registered first. The problem appears to be that the template I
copied and edited is still in the prior user’s profile, and there doesn’t
appear to be a way to get it out of there and save it to my own account.

I checked your IP address and I found a couple of forms accessed by it. Not sure if these are your colleagues forms but maybe it's worth checking and see if the one that you created are one of those.
