how do I set the phone number to accept only 3 numbers in the area code?

Asked by davieslawfirm on September 15, 2012 at 05:24 PM

I would like to change the settings to have the area code space automatically tab over to the rest of the phone number box. for example, the form allows you to input your entire phone number into the area code. then, there is nothing in the rest of the box, and you get an error message. we have older clients who would most likely be confused by this.

    thanks for your help

    Hi,

If you use the compound fields like Phone from the JotForm quick tools, it will not have the property of max size property that are present in a regular text box field.

This means 'validation' function of the area code field is not present.

You may want to use 2 textbox fields instead to have the limitation property. You can do this and simply aligned the 2 fields on same line.. in the screen below, the phone number test are 2 textbox fields only.

You can check the form here http://www.jotform.me/form/22587386687473

Please inform us if you need further assistance.

    Thanks.
