Asked on November 21, 2017 at 07:44 PM

We are in need of our registration form to Generate a date list between 2 dates in a jot form conditionally upon responses.

Example:

John Smith

555-555-6777

main@jotform.com

DROP DOWN: Group 1, Group 2, Group 3, ect

HIDDEN:  (Each Group represents a number of random numbers to be associated with the client.  Example:  Group 1=4 numbers generated per month/Group 2=10 numbers generated per month)

Help?

It's  possible to set up calculation values, hidden values that will be selected as soon as an option on the drop down is selected.

However, these values need to be manually entered into the field settings, please check this guide in order to get more details about it: https://www.jotform.com/help/301-How-to-Assign-Calculation-Value

If you have any question, please let us know.

Thank you very much for the quick response.  I do not understand how that relates to my overall question.  Can you clarify for me?

Sorry for the confusion.

I posted my reply based on this:

DROP DOWN: Group 1, Group 2, Group 3, ect

HIDDEN:  (Each Group represents a number of random numbers to be associated with the client.  Example:  Group 1=4 numbers generated per month/Group 2=10 numbers generated per month)

Basically assigning values you could achieve that:

Group 1 =  Random Value = 123

Group 2 =  Random Value = 456

Group  3=  Random Value = 789

However, the values can predefined and fixed, the cannot be dynamically changed.

Either I am not conveying it clearly or I am not understanding it clearly.  I have used jot form for many advanced forms however I am not finding a simple way to accomplish this.

Regular run of the mill form for customer registration until it comes to this:

1.  Variable=Group # (total of 9 groups) Each Client when they are registered is assigned one of these 9 groups.

2.  Each group has a assigned while value to it which represents the incidents of testing per month.  Those hard values are (12,9,5,3,2,1,4,7,13).  Example John Smith is assigned Group 3 on the form he does not see the number 3 as it is hidden.  The hidden variable then initiates a formula providing random dates for the current month and the next 12 months within the form hidden.  Assuming that this would be included:=RANDBETWEEN(DATE(2013, 1, 1),DATE(2013, 3, 1))

This would effectively house the randomly generated dates with the customer for CRM integregration via automated work flow.

I then assume within the CRM I would have to find a way to automate alerts to the client upon those day.

Does that make sense?

Based on your point 2 it seems like you need to have the value calculated based on a formula; however, that will not be possible since the calculation values can be fixed only.

For example, I have 3 groups and each one has its own value:

When the group is selected you can capture its value:

Note that the value is hidden and it can be used to perform calculations on your form. Here's an example about how this will work: https://form.jotform.com/73254968609975

I hope this helps.

Thank you, I was aware of that particular function however the next calculation step is where I was stuck.  I am glad to hear that it is because it is not possible.  Any chance of a widget for this?  My company would even be willing to pay for said widget.

I think there might be a different method to implement this, it can be done with conditional logic, if you would have a small list of groups.

With conditions you can conditionally insert a value, performing calculations as well, but you will need to set up a condition per option listed on the form.

This guide will provide you more  details about it: https://www.jotform.com/help/268-How-to-Insert-Text-or-Calculation-into-a-Field-Using-Conditional-Logic

I could also open the feature request for this, but we cannot provide an ETA about when this can be developed, it may be most likely implemented if there are more users requesting the same.

Please let us know if you would like this to be escalated.
