    Form cannot be submitted - There are incomplete fields

    Asked by Homeappraisalsinc on September 26, 2012 at 08:55 AM

    Hi,

    I have had several customers complain that they fill out all the information on my jot form https://www.homeappraisalsinc.com/payment-submission/ and it tells them that they did not fill in all the information. On said they said they were using Chrome and another said they were using IE on Windows 7. Can you please advise on how to fix this issue? Thank you!

    This last customer says they were using IE on Windows 7. Can you please test it on that, Safari and Firefox? Thank you!

    Hi,

    Your form is working fine in my end using the latest version of Chrome. Can you please provide us screenshot of the exact issue of your website for further assistance?

    Thank you!

    @Homeappraisalsinc

    They have probably left out the Expiration Month and Year empty. According to my tests, those fields do not get highlighted when left empty, yet an error message appears telling me that there are incomplete fields.

    On the first time I filled out the form, I missed on those fields. It probably is caused by bad eyesight, but those fields definitely need to be highlighted when left empty.

    I will pass a ticket to our devs to have this rectified.

    We'll do.

    By the way, this issue can be rectified by simply asking your users to make sure that everything is filled out, especially the Amount, Expiration Month & Year fields.

    @NeilVicente They are checking and promise me everything is filled out. The highlights would help.

    @Homeappraisalsinc

    Thank you for updating us. You will be notified immediately when update/fix are available.

    As NeilVicente previously mentioned a temporary workaround can be applied,(i.e. highlighting the specifics). You can add a contextual hint within the form that can be easily seen by the form user.

    Something like this...

    Thanks.

    @jonathan I did not know I can do that. Do you have screenshots on how to do that? Thank you!

    @Homeappraisalsinc

    You can do this by adding a "Free HTML" field before your submit button.

    You can add a warning note such as the one shown on the image above.

    Let us know if you need further assistance!

    OK Thanks but I thought it would be a dynamic message that would show up and tell them which field was missing.

    Sorry for getting your hope up wrongly on that. =)

    No, it is only a static context, that you can put in the form... for better effect though, you can also make the font smaller (like those little warning text lables you see on credit cards.)

    Thanks.

    Also, you can add some red asteriks * to your sub labels for visual effect.

    Example:

    1. Click on the sub lable and add the following code.

    &nbsp<span style="color: red;">*</span>

    2. Repeat that action for other sub labels.

    3. Save your form.

    Result:

    Thank you.
