As the issue was already elevated and had ticket already. We can only wait for now for update from our dev team. They usually post/announce within the forum when they had rectified issues like this.
For the meantime, you can try using the "re-captcha" option for the captcha field. This seems to work and does simulate similar concept as the captcha image.
