Is it possible to limit the number of characters?

Is it possible to limit the number of characters a user can input into the text box?

Unfortunately, you cannot, there is no option to limit the numbers of characters in the Configurable list widget.

It is only possible with some of the regular fields, like short text entry, through its properties:
