Approval form: Why hidden fields are not showing up while editing the submission?

    Good Morning,

I have created a form that requires approval.  The one trouble that I am having is that I can only complete the approval from a computer.  If I log on from my phone when I click edit, I do not see the approval fields.  I have also made sure I am logged in and I have tried using the app, nothing has seemed to work.  Am I doing something wrong or is this capability not available?

    Please advise.

    Thank you!

    Hello hubbardpto,

I noticed that you have a number of forms in your account. Can you tell us which form this case is happening, the kind of mobile device that you have used, the link where you edit a submission (is this through the submissions page, or through an edit URL link such as those from the email address)?

We look forward to your response.

    Thanks.

    Hello,
It is the expense reimbursement form. I have an iPhone. I have tried to log in to jot forms directly from my phone and from the edit link provided in the email.
Please let me know if you need any more information.
    Thank you for your assistance.

I have been testing your form and I can see the hidden fields will show while editing the submission through a mobile device, please see this screenshot:

However, I was logged into your account while I was testing the form using the edit link, please note that the hidden fields will be shown as long as you're logged in so this may be why you cannot see the fields.

Now, in order to show the fields to someone else without providing access to your account you will need to implement a different method, please check this guide that will provide you more details about a general approval workflow: https://www.jotform.com/help/432-A-General-Approach-on-Building-an-Approval-Process-Workflow

    I hope this helps.

Yeah, I did know that you need to be logged in, but still doesn’t work from my phone. Any other ideas?

When editing a submission from the link provided on the email alert, the form loaded here performs similar to an ordinary form being filled up. Thus, fields hidden, by design, will still be hidden upon loading the form even with the edit link.

Instead, you can create a condition set on the form to show the field if the link contains /edit/ for example. To make this happen, you will need to get a Get Form URL widget and add it to your form. Then create a condition which will perform like if the widget contains /edit/ then show the hidden fields.
