    Is there any way to select a subset of submissions for the report?

    Asked by SueJ on October 09, 2012 at 10:54 AM

    Is there any way to select a subset of submissions for the report?

    It would be nice to have a graphic showing what a sample report would look like. Also, what is the advantage of a CSV report vs. Excel?

    To answer your questions I have responded to them in bold.

    Is there any way to select a subset of submissions for the report?

    I'm not quite sure what you mean by ' subset ' but we do have a secondary group of options to configurate before you download .xls or .csv files that will allow you to specify and view only certain ones pertaining to however you set the options up for to give you better control over the files. That may be what you are looking for and if so please see this guide: http://www.jotform.com/help/73-Excel-CSV-reports-partial-download

    Also, what is the advantage of a CSV report vs. Excel?

    CSV files hold plain text as a series of values (cells) separated by commas (,) in a series of lines (rows). You can actually open a CSV file in a text editor and read it yourself. Many applications are capable of reading CSV files, and many languages provide built-in functions that simplify reading/writing CSV format.

    XLS is an MS Excel workbook binary file, which holds information about all the worksheets in a workbook, comprising both content and formatting (number masking, colouring, conditional formatting, etc), and can also hold additionals like charts, images, etc. XLS files can only be read by applications that have been especially written to read their format, and can only be written in the same way.

    1-My first question was a desire to download not all the submissions in a particular form but just a certain group of them that I choose by some other variable than those you offer. For example, if I could use the FLAG to denote those submissions I wanted to include in the report, that would be fabulous.  Is something like this possible?

    2-Thank you for the helpful explanation of my second question.  I still think it would be good to add this to your User Guide somewhere, along with a small graphic example of those 2 report types.

    Hi,

    Do you mean to download only a certain information by fields? So lets say, you have fields like;

    1. Full Name

    2. Address

    3. Age

    4. Email Address

    And you only want to download the: Full Name and Address? IF yes, then that is possible by unchecking the fiels while you are in submissions page and clicking the settings in "Gear" icon, see image below;

    You can also download a submission by time frame, just select the date by clicking the time frame option on the same window on the image given.

    But if you mean to download a certain submissions only, so let say;

    Submission 1

    Submission 2

    Submission 3

    And you only want to download submissions 1 and 2, then I think that's not possible in the same time frame.

    Hope this clears up everything and hoping that this is what you mean.

    Thanks

    What I meant was, yes, only submissions 1 and 2.  Too bad that is not possible.  I though maybe using the Flag might allow it.
