Request to have the option to turn off/lock the Unique Name of a field even if the Label/Question is modified.

After assigning a unique variable name to a field if I rename the question on that form, jotForm will automatically rename the field variable.

This behavior is rather undesirable in my opinion, as it can break many things on a form, reports, texts where that variable is used or calculations without user being aware.

I understand the desire for variables to reflect the question, but I do not think they should be changed after the user takes the time to assign a custom variable to a field.

This has caused significant headaches for us, as questions tend to go through many revisions while variable names do not.

I agree with you, this might be troublesome for users that uses the Unique Names to prepopulate fields or pass a data from another form.

I will escalate this to our Developers and add this as a Feature request.

Please take note that we have an APP which will automatically generate a pre-populated URL which might be useful when you rename a whole lot of fields.
