i WISH TO change a dropdown to single choice but keep the under laying data in the database the same. For instance changing a gender male/female dropdown to a single choice buttons, but i want all the old data from the dropdown to remain with this gender question. I tried to change the field ID to match the old item, but your system won't let me.

Unfortunately, you cannot transfer the data from your Dropdown to another type of field. However, you can just set the Dropdown field to Hidden so you won't lose the previous data and add the new Single Choice field.

You can also download all the existing Submission Data into CSV/Excel file. https://www.jotform.com/help/73-How-to-Download-Form-Submissions-as-Excel-CSV-PDF

Then use our Import Tool to import those data with the updated field type.

NOTE: Please be sure to download/backup all your submission data first before doing some changes such as deleting a field to avoid data loss.

    Hope that helps.
