Long text entry fields are being cutoff

It has come to my attention that many of the entries in our form https://form.jotform.com/AMSForms/ocacs-resident-paper-abstracts are cut off. While we do have a word limit in this field the entries that are cut off are below this limit, in some cases by nearly 100 words. Additionally, it appears that many of the cut offs end in the letter "p."

I have checked your submissions and see that some of the Abstract field in the submissions are ended by p. As I check the notification emails sent, it seems that the Abstract field is not included in the email. I have tried cloning your JotForm and was not able to replicate the issue with a test submission. Could you try including Abstract field to the notification or adding a separate notification with the field so that we can check if it is truncating only when storing the data for the new submissions?

If the text is not available in the submission data, unfortunately, it is not possible to recover the missing text. However, you may check with the user who actually submitted the form if there is any real data missing in the field.

While I understand that you cannot recover this data and I have reached out to everyone that has submitted an affected form. I need to know why this is happening and what we can do to help ensure this doesn't happen again as it has caused a lot of trouble.

While digging deeper into this, I found out that the reason why it is cut off in the Submissions page was due to the less than sign ' < ' in your Long Text entry.

If you check those submission that is cutted off and ended with "p", the following text is a "<" less than sign, and with no space after it.

I believe this is done purposely by our Developers due to security issues . 

To ensure this won't happen again and ensure all Texts will be recorded, you can try using Squire Editor widget.

You can still copy the whole submitted data from your Submissions Page "Edit" mode and transfer/copy it to the Squire Editor widget. Be sure to NOT delete the Long Text Entry field so the data on it won't be lost, you can just set it as Hidden.
