Card Forms: Would like the ability to have the emoji slider empty by default

    Hi,

It says it all in the description.

I need to make it make it mandatory for a response on the emoji slider. I have hit required in the widget options however I can still skip past the question.

As you can see by the red star it is "required". There are 4 different versions of "required" in the element settings. I have tried all however I can still skip the questions.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hi,

This is the expected behaviour for emoji slider since it starts with a default value.

Maybe you can change your input type to radio button and in that case you will not be able to skip the question without selecting an option.

    Hi again,

    Thanks for your response.

The issue I have highlighted has only recently occurred. Less than 2 weeks ago the the emoji slider acted as I would hope it to.

The user was not able to progress unless they interacted with the slider. The user could tap the slider to maintain its position or else they could slide it to a new value.

It seems something has changed with this element.

Can you please look into this further and revert any changes which may have been made in recent days or weeks.

    Thank you!

I understand your concern, but, like my colleagues' response, this is the latest design decision for emoji slider field. You may consider entering a remarkable description to the field in order to attract notice.

    Hi Tina,

I don't think much consideration was taken when making the latest design decision for the emoji slider.

It was an extremely useful tool which I am currently using on a number of live projects funded by clients. The decision made by jotform will have a serious affect on the outcome of this project, especially given that the change was made mid-project!

It is now extremely easy for the user to simply skip this vital question and submit a neutral response. (Users will skip through questions without any consideration if they are allowed to, and this update will allow them to do so)

The update has also rendered the "required" drop down in the options section useless as the slider is pre-populated with the neutral emoji.

This is making me doubt the practicality and stability of jotform.

I will be amazed if I am the only person who makes you aware of this failing.

I would like to make a request to the developers to allow me the option to have the slider not pre-populated like it is now.

    Thank you.

I will submit a feature request to see if the ability to have the emoji slider can be empty by default, thus requiring the user to make a selection if the field is required.  Please note that if this is how the widget is intended to function, it might remain as is.

If there are any updates to this request, we will let you know here in this thread.
