Incomplete Submissions - any way to show a flag, field value, etc. in the excel report output?

to help retain data, I'm using the sessionID approach.  In the main form, when the "Submit" button has not yet been pressed, is there any way to pass this state (e.g. in a field) so that it can be viewed within the reporting tool (Excel file)?  or the other way around -  if the "Submit" button in the main form was pressed, to assign a value to a field to show as output in the Excel report?

Please correct if I'm wrong:  on the main form, no SubmissionID is created until the "Submit" button is pressed - only a sessionID from the initial form is available. 

When I export the Excel report, I do not see a new main record unless it has a SubmissionID; the current active form (not pressing "Submit") with SessionID is not showing in this Excel report.  

You are correct. Only those completed submissions(the ones that have a submission ID), are available for Excel download reports.
