Limits: What is the definition of total submissions in the console?

What is the definition of Total Submissions in the console?  How can I clear the old submission to free up the space for the new survey? 

This is the total number of submissions you can store on your account. When you exceed your limit, the oldest submission data will be deleted, giving way for the new ones to be received.

You can delete the old submissions to free up space by following this guide: How to Delete Form Submission Data Please note that if you delete your submissions from the submissions page, this process can not be undone.
