Unique Field Name: Request for a name lock option

I have a field where I changed the question I asked, and it changed the unique name of the field, breaking the prepopulation variables I had set up. So I changed the unique field name on the advanced tab manually back to the original name.

But it appears that any change to the question also changes the field name. Is there any way to set and lock the field name, so it won't change with every minor change to the wording of the question? And if not, is this a feature that could be added?

    Thanks, Carl.

The Unique Name in your field details doesn't really change when you edit the name of the field, it will only change when you delete a field or added a new field prior to adding the field.

However, you can edit  the unique name if you want.

Can you please give us more information, on how you want to lock the unique name?

    Thank you.

I just experimented on this form, Consult After-Action Report, and the problem persists.

The original question was "Staff Scheduling Consult", and I had manually changed the unique field name to "staff", which is what I use in my pre-population links.

I changed the question to "Who Scheduled Consult", and Jotform changed my unique field name to "whoScheduled".

I changed the question back to "Staff Scheduling Consult", and Jotform changed the unique field name to "staffScheduling". I changed it back to "staff", which is what it currently is.

Without the abililty to have a constant name, one small change to clarify a question and we then have to hunt down every link where we preopulate the field name and change that too. The solution seems simple - a box we can tick next to the unique name field in advanced settings that says "lock" - and if ticked, the name won't change even if the question does.

    Thanks, Carl.
