Save and complete forms later

    Hi there,

I have set up the two forms so that I can give each respondent a unique link, which should allow them to save and complete their forms later. However when I test the system by completing a form part way and then hitting submit, and then go back to the unique link and click on it (to simulate going back to the form later) the form is completely blank. Am I doing something wrong? thanks!

    Hello,

If you would only want to let the user be able to edit their submission at anytime, I suggest you follow this guide: https://www.jotform.com/help/40-How-to-Let-Users-Update-Their-Form-Submissions-at-a-Later-Date

It is pretty straightforward and you only need ONE form. Just add an email field on the first page and include "edit link" into you autoresponder email.

Thanks. I'll give that a try. Does it have a limit to how long the user can use the link for editing? And do they need to be using the same device or browser?

The edit link is valid as long as the form is active. Also, your users can use any device or browser anytime.

Great, thanks. Is there a way to copy the edit link (that is in the auto response email) into the auto Thank You page?

And... is that edit link unique to each user?

Yes, you can add the Edit Link into your Thank You page, simply go to Settings > Thank You Page > click on Form Fields > then select Edit Link.

Additionally, just in case you would like to change the text that is displayed for the edit link in the emails or in the Thank You page, you may follow this guide: https://www.jotform.com/help/357-How-to-Change-the-Text-of-the-Edit-Link-in-Your-Email-Alerts

As for the uniqueness, it is unique per submission. So if a user completes the form twice, then he/she will have two edit links. However, if you would like to limit form submission per user, please follow this guide: https://www.jotform.com/help/223-How-to-set-Form-Limits-Based-on-a-Unique-Question.
