It's interesting that you posted this because we had tried to figure out a way for our contractors to use JotForms as a way to track the number of meals served during the child care feeding program. It got too complicated because we needed something that could be used to track a child's participation for the whole week.

Hey don't forget you have a lot of users in government agencies. Our needs are slightly different.

You can use some of the counter widgets here https://widgets.jotform.com/widget/gift_registry to help track the remaining meals in your inventory.

For the number of meals served, you can check the submissions page on how many submissions was used.

How to check the submissions — https://www.jotform.com/help/269-How-to-View-Form-Submissions

The idea of Jotform is it always involved a submission of the form. That means, in order for you to use the widgets to decrease the counter inventory is you need to make a submissions.

My suggestion is to have the person fill up the form information before they can get the meal, in that way you have their information and at the same time you can view the numbers of submitted form in your submissions page.
