Is there a way to link a drop down to an external data file like a csv file

We have a JotForm application for our mobile phone users which requires entry of a nickname for an item used on the job. On our tablet version which connects directly to the server database, the user gets a drop down populated with the nicknames and their corresponding full description, plus type ahead to speed up data entry.

On the JotForm form we would be content to have an external csv list connected to the drop down, provided the link was live. If we have to cut and paste manually the updated csv list, then we couldn't handle that except on a monthly basis.

What are our options? It seems from the forum that a lot of people want this but nothing has happened yet.

We would like to apologize for any inconvenience for we do not have a feature that will have a drop-down field in the form gets its options from an outside source. But you can always try to use the form's full source code and create a script to implement such — How-to-get-the-Full-Source-Code-of-your-Form (You may need to hire a developer for that)

Or, if possible, you can also use the Spreadsheet to Form widget.
