How can I properly use the Configurable List Widget with the Calculate Widget?

I want to be able to set up this list, so that the Calculate Widget at the bottom to auto-calculate the total costs listed in the Configurable List Widget above. But it's just appending the numbers onto the end of a string of numbers....

Is there any way I can change this?

P.S.: Is there a way I can pre-set default text in some of the boxes on the Configurable List Widget?
