Configurable List Widget - Multiple 'add more' features

    Hello,

You're going to want to get a cup of coffee for this:)

I've been building a site audit form and the way I need the data returned is rather complex. Currently, I have a good start using the Configurable List Widget, but not 100% if this is the right tool.

I've attached an example of the audit hierarchy. Notice this is for 1 floor. Auditors will be auditing multiple floors, with multiple rooms, with multiple surfaces, etc., etc.

It's the 'multiple' part that I'm struggling with. I basically need to provide the user a way to 'add' a line for almost all of the questions. However, how do I keep them organized by floor, room, surface, etc.

    It's a puzzle.

Any advice would sure be welcome.

If I understand you correctly, you want to keep the information organized in that way (nested). In other words, you want to allow the users to add multiple room types and multiple cleaning surfaces in those rooms.

    Unfortunately, this is not possible.

The Configurable List is suitable to be used if you need multiple rows of something. Nesting is not possible.

Nesting is the perfect description. Thank you!

Are you saying this is impossible to do with the Configurable List Widget or in JotForm period?

You've already configured the fields using Configurable List Widget. Based on your description, that seems to have done it. If not, please give us more information on how that "multiple" part works.

Do you mean you have more Floors with different Room Type? And based on that Room Type, there is also a different Dispenser Type and so on?

If yes to the above, how many Floors do you have? I was thinking a workaround by adding multiple configurable list widget, and each widget is a unique configuration for the Floors. That may work.

Unfortunately, the number of floors, rooms and cleaning surfaces need to be 'limitless'. We simply don't know how many. We could be auditing a manufacturing plant, hospital, school system or a high-rise building. Our customers are so unique.

JotForm is so powerful. I have to believe there is a way around this. I've even wondered if some type of calculation widget would help???

I appreciate your willingness to think through this.

You can add multiple Configurable List Widgets to your form but it is not possible to set which floor does a room belong to or which room does a surface belong to as all of this information seems to be dynamic.

Below is a visual of what I need.

I'm wondering if there's another way. Perhaps create the following buttons and treat them each as sections? Each section has its own set of fields?

    1. Add a Floor

    2. Add a Room

    3. Add a Surface

This is possible with our basic fields, but our basic fields won't allow you to duplicate sections dynamically. You have to predefine the number of rooms you can add. The only tool we have is the configurable list width which will allow you to add an unlimited number of rows/section.

I'd also like to let you know in advance that configurable list widget entries are saved into a single cell in excel/spreadsheet reports.

I have shared this thread with the team to see if they can come up with an idea. I'll keep you posted.

I am so glad you told me about how the data appears in Excel when using a Configurable List Widget. This is a deal breaker. I'm playing around with some of the basic fields, as you suggest, but appreciate anything your team may also come up with.

This is a 'bear' to create, but once it's done and is functioning as needed. It will be an awesome tool for my team.

Trying to think through a solution...

Your team helped me with a different type of audit form recently. The link is as follows: https://www.jotform.com/build/80953834822160

When you submit the form, you can click on a link in the Thank You email, which does the following:

    1. Returns you to the form

    2. Pre-populates the contact information (upper half) of the form - so the user doesn't have to reenter data - when they wish to populate a new audit.

We developed this so the user can add new audits over and over, either the same day or at a later date, for the same location. However, they have to 'submit' and 'leave' the form, get the Thank You email and click on the link to return to the form to add a new audit.

Is there a way to create this same kind of process/link, but WITHIN the form.

    https://form.jotform.com/81363918222153

    1. Have a button: "Add a Floor".  User clicks on this and is taken to the "Floor Number" field where they enter the floor number.

    2. Next, create a button called "Add a Room" - User clicks on this and is taken to the section for "Room Type"

    3. Create a button called "Add a Surface" - User clicks on this and is taken to the section for "Cleaning Surface"

    4. THEN after the Surface section, have a 'bank' of 4 buttons: "Add a New Floor", "Add a Another Room", "Add Another Surface", and "Submit".

One of the many challenges is keeping the Surface(s) and Room(s) bundled with the correct Floor.

    If this even possible?
