Are conditioned hidden fields still required if the validation is enabled?

When I have contingent fields how to I make sure that the fields are filled in? Do I make all of the options 'required' and the system will know that 2 of the 6 options are being shown and not require the hidden fields to be filled

If you have required a field, and have created a condition to show it, the field will not be required if the field is hidden.
