You can just create a multiple choice field and hide the field via conditional logic rule https://www.jotform.com/help/316-How-to-Show-or-Hide-Fields-Base-on-User-s-Answer.

What if I want those subquestions to be seen regardless of whether or not they check it. In other words, I want them to be able to see the options associated it without them having to check it off in order to see those options.

You can create the form using the Multiple Select Field and Long Text Entry Field. I have created a demo form you can clone and use as required: https://form.jotform.com/82217912269965
Refer to this guide on adding form fields: https://www.jotform.com/help/46-Quick-Overview-of-Form-Fields
