Why is HTTPS (SSL) not supported with Custom Domain?

    I understand this was quickly answered here, but I would like a deeper explanation please.

    Is it at all possible to retain the Https address for people using the form if I move things over to the custom domain? If so please explain how I would do this. Thank you kindly.

    Does your website have an SSL installed for the "forms" subdomain?
    https://forms.yourwebsite.com

    For this, you would need a special SSL certificate for the forms subdomain of your website or a Wildcard SSL certificate which works with all subdomains.

    If forms.yourwebsite.com is secured, the custom domain should work properly (even with HTTPS).

    Let me forward this to our developers to make sure that this is possible, and if not, they will be able to explain it better.

    Thanks for your quick reply, do I need to use a subdomain or can I just use my domain? Like https://www.eyecontactexperiment.com/registration2018

    You can use your domain as is. We normally recommend a subdomain because users usually reserve their main domain for other functions such as a website, so it always makes sense to have the forms on a subdomain.

    In summary, if you use your main domain, you will not be able to use it for any other function like hosting a website because it will now be pointing to the JotForm servers.

    Pointing a subdomain will leave the main domain free and only point the subdomain to JotForm servers.

    As for the issue about using HTTPS, our developer team will get back to you on that.

    I would like to add that this is a great idea and asked by others in the past. So please add my name to the list.

    Regards, Robert

    @sharp8989

    If you want your form URL to be https://www.eyecontactexperiment.com/registration2018, you can just create a page named registration2018 and embed your form on that page.

    @Robert,

    You will be notified via this thread once there is an update on this.

    JotForm Enterprise now supports HTTPS/SSL with custom domains.  If you are still interested in this feature, the link below has more information regarding JotForm Enterprise:
