Card Form/Long Text Entry: Text formatted using the field's toolbox is passed as HTML to Asana.

    When users copy paste information into a field box on Jotform, it shows up as HTML language in its respective Asana custom field once submitted.

    How can we stop that from happening?

    I've copied the message in this thread and pasted it into my form's long text entry field that is integrated with my Asana account, however, I'm unable to replicate the  HTML issue you experienced.

    Are you able to replicate it from your end? If so, would you mind sharing to us on how you copy the information like do you include the images, elements etc.. that will surely generate an HTML code if you include the images, fields etc.

    Looking forward for your response.

    I'm unable to replicate it anymore. Maybe it was a glitch or user error? But thank you for your response. I'll update this if it happens again.

    Thank you for letting us know.

    Yes, that could be a reason. Please advise if it happens again.

    Thank you!

    I believe I've pinpointed the issue. Whenever a client fills out a paragraph field on Jotform and uses the BULLETPOINT feature then submits the request, when auto integrated into Asana, that paragraph field shows up with HTML code. Looks like this

    <div>

    <ul><li><span style="font-size: 14.4px;">t</span></li>
    <li><span style="font-size: 14.4px;">t</span></li>
    <li><span style="font-size: 14.4px;">t</span></li>
    <li><span style="font-size: 14.4px;"></span> </li>
    </ul>
    </div>

    Is there any update to this problem? It seems like this concern is not isolated to only Jotform's bullet points but copying and pasting bullet points from other sources (like Word) as well.

    We have a new reported case where the user did not use any bullet points, but numbers, on a paragraph field, and the outcome once submitted was all in HTML. This is what we saw.

    Was the original data all in plain text or is there any special character included? Kindly send us a screenshot of the original data and the actual data displayed on Asana?

    Looking forward for your response.

    Hi Jed,

    Sorry for the delay. This problem is still present in our current projects; we still see the html.

    Attached is a screenshot of how the field looks within Asana. A Word document was used to copy paste that information.1546893923HTML screenshot Screenshot 10

    Thanks Kevin. Is there a way for JotForm to pass the submitted form as plain text to Asana?

    It seems like once the JotForm form is submitted, the communication between JotForm and Asana is when and where the complications occur (HTML in Asana fields).

    Unfortunately, there's only one long text entry field that you can use. However, you can try Jotform's widget https://widgets.jotform.com/widget/ckeditor or similar.

    I haven't tested it yet if it converts the data into html. Please try that out and let us know how it goes.

    Looking forward for your response.

    Hello CreativeStudioPM,

    We have checked the issue which assigned by our support team. Integrations looks working as expected. There aren't any issues.

    During the investigation, you use 'Long Text Input' field on your form. In card layout, long text input field works as markdown editor. Markdown editor sends users' responses as HTML encode to the other 3rd Party Software (Like Asana). The purpose of this is to ensure that they can see their answers data wherever they want (provided that they support the html image) as they see it in the card form.

    Unfortunately, Asana doesn't seem to support HTML for tasks or custom fields on Asana Workspaces. However, you can turn off this feature of the markdown editor so that it is always sent in the correct format.

    How to close Markdown Editor features for 'Long Text Input' ::

    We share below 2 different configuration and results::

    Config 1 :: Markdown Editor is 'ON'

    Submission:

    1562571912Screen%20Shot%202019 07 08%20a Screenshot 21

    Asana:

    1562572665Screen%20Shot%202019 07 08%20a Screenshot 32

    Config 2 :: Markdown Editor is 'OFF

    Submission:

    1562572744Screen%20Shot%202019 07 08%20a Screenshot 43

    Asana:

    1562572773Screen%20Shot%202019 07 08%20a Screenshot 54

    You have already solved the issue by changing your Markdown options 'OFF' before that response.

    Thanks for your understanding.

    Please keep us informed of your progress.

    Regards.
